No, I'm loving it (I kind of want that cover as a poster), I'm just so shocked that a publisher actually allowed a CoC on a front cover.

I was so glad to see that verbnoire is encouraging writers to be different; I am so freakin' bored with what's currently available I could cry.

(I have never quite gotten over the fact that the publisher apparently flipped the cover art for one of Martha Wells' novels, so the white male secondary character was on the front, and the black female main character was on the back.)

I read "Wheel of the Infinite" for the first time last year and since I got it from the library, I got the original cover. It took a friend to tell me that the paperback version had the figures flipped. I'm tempted to buy a hardcover copy from Wells (last time I looked she had limited numbers via her website) just so I can get the original cover.

If I hadn't already been familiar with her writing, I would have breezed right past the paperback with its Generic White Hero cover. I wish I had room for hardcovers (but I really don't even have room for more paperbacks).

my editor was very inclusive and we looked
at different models for the possible cover.
all surreal and ... ah, wonderful experience.
i think this girl embodies my heroine wonderfully!

getting an actual model for the cover is a big
deal, and i couldn't be more grateful to my
publisher, greenwillow books. they are a smaller
imprint and part of harperteen.
