Part Cherokee, yes. His family is from Oklahoma--a lot of Oklahoma natives are part < insert name of any eastern tribe forced to Oklahoma >.

I grew up in the same Oklahoma town as CK and he's close to my age but I don't think I ever met him.

Here's the part where I mention that I was at the concert where the second black & white photo was taken. I talked a buddy of mine (who doesn't listen to country music at all) to go with me. We drove 7.5 hours to a tiny town halfway between Phoenix and Tucson just to hear Kane play live (http://kelleah.livejournal.com/15400.html#cutid1) at a country music festival.

Ahhhh, good times. Plus, I got a big hug from Steve Carlson. :-D

Fun fact: The cowboy hat he's wearing in that photo is completely covered in duct tape. It looked heavy as hell, and it was 93 degrees in the shade that day.
