I wrote a historiography paper recently wherein I complained about historians using these two as shorthand for two polar opposite viewpoints, MLK as thesis and Malcolm X as antithesis.

I don't have a copy of the finished paper--I did the final work on it on a different computer. But, really, I only made that point in passing.

But! Now that you mention it... would hitting you up for beta reading on history papers (or, a-hem, master's theses) be an abuse of our bonds of affection?
