That colorless-lip look was real fashionable back in the day, of course. I wouldn't have minded seeing just a touch more tint there, but keeping the mouth subdued really does put the focus on her beautiful, beautiful eyes.
Me, the one bit of her styling I never liked were those hoops -- that green clashed with her uniform and looked cheap and plasticky. I liked her gold earrings better, they went with her uniform and were such a flattering tone against her gorgeous skin.
Imprinting on Uhura at an impressionable age is, I suspect, at the roots of my chronic Eyeliner Abuse. But how could I not fall in love with that strength and elegance?
And WORD on your music tag. Nyota and Hikaru were the sexiest damn thangs on that ship, hands down.

LOL
But how could I not fall in love with that strength and elegance?
I dunno. But I'll tell you this, growing up I thought she was fat. Bu then, as a little girl my family was constantly riding me about being 'big' and 'heavy' and then there were the many dance classes I was enrolled in too.
Isn't it sad how a fit, strong, curvaceous dancer would scan as fat to a little girl dancer?

Oh, I dunno...there was a certain Doctor...and a Captain...and a First Officer.
That whole crew: hot.
And it's so cool to watch the first aired ep because Roddenberry wasn't playing with those nasty gatekeeper minority types at Desilu and NBC. Uhuru's right up on screen at CONTROLS, alongside whiteboy pilot! And then Uhura's all, "Message for you sir, blahdy blah, Space Commander Dominguez--"
And Kirk smile and says, "Tell Jose...I've got his mexican red peppers and I picked 'em myself."
And I went, "Gee Gene. Tell us how you really felt about race, ethnicity, bigotry and prejudice."
What's shameful is that in so many ways, shows airing NOW don't do as well in 3 years (yes, Supernatural, I'm looking at YOU) than ST did before I was even a possibility in a handshake b/n strangers.

Date: 2008-02-26 12:57 am (UTC)It was! Women with lines on their faces being sexy. Who knew?
They were hilarious.
i love the interaction between spock and uhura
Yesssssssssss.
She was being flirty and he adjusted his collar. "Vulcan has no moon."
Rand and Sulu are cute too. She called him 'beauregard' if I heard correctly. And she got him some food, and was eating off his plate!
They must be close. Because she salted his space-celery n'everything.

Date: 2008-02-26 04:05 am (UTC)I think she flirted more with Spock and he was always the one to help her up when some alien knocked the ship sideways.
But she and Kirk.......
*shakes head*
Still can't decide. Obviously.

Or three different ships. :)
She was hilarious with her flirting with Spock. He'd have all these expressions. She was so bad. I wonder if McCoy had talked her into that.
