If it wasn't for Ms. Barkin, would ordinary women, and by ordinary I mean uninteresting no matter how much plastic surgery they purchase or hair dye and contacts they acquire, think that all they need is enough gym time and the right doctor to be hotter than hot? Because what I think that a lot of boring women don't get is that Barkin had It before she went large. In my estimation she's never been pretty -- or beautiful -- but she nails gorgeous and exciting and that's something they can't buy. And, I think, to be preferred.

The thing I love about Barkin is that she doesn't play by the rules. This is one of my favorite pics of her (http://secondcitystyle.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/06/04/ellen_barkin.jpg), partly b/c the dress and shoes are smokin' hot, but also because she manages to look strong, slim, sexy and age-appropriate, all at the same time.

I find it highly amusing that she auctioned off the jewelry her ex gave her, to the tune of $21mil. She's ballsy. I dig that.

About the rules: it's her party. She appears to do what she wants.
