I was planning on getting a Vogue Italia when I was there but never got around to it. (I really haven't flipped through one so I am unfamiliar with it's layout.) Is it normal for there to be editorials of models and their stats?
I guess what I am wondering is, what is the significance of this editorial then?
When pressed, some fashionista will go on record that there aren't black models working that are suitable for the fashion houses. (Too hippy or too much in the behind).
But, looking at these girls, some of them are narrow all the way through, and then, some of them do have some thigh but they aren't big. And, the point of a look see is for a model to go to someone who's hiring. These girls while slender, are normal slender rather than, "Omg, so hongry, someone please get me my dinner of cigarettes with a water and vodka chaser."
It isn't at all normal for editorials to have stats of models. But, these models have their measurements up there and many fashion houses that reject black models claim to do so because 1) the agencies don't send them black girls and 2) the black girls they send plain old don't measure up.
And this editorial has 8 girls, and their stats in plain view.
But, fashion is ridiculously anti-ass.
I know a woman who used to model and was 5-9 and a size 4.
Designers would complain that her ass was too big.
So you're saying that the stats are there to tell the fashion houses to stop being shit-heads?
I find the anti-ass thing mind boggling, mostly because my ass is gargantuan and yet it is one of the few things that will make a guy stop in their tracks and forget they have a brain. I used to be offended by it, but not I simply find it hilarious. Granted fashion is directed at women - but I haven't heard anything about it from women - except maybe "my guyfriends would love your ass". (As in that one co-worker who referred to me as "you and your big ass".) But then, the fashion industry is mind boggling, no matter what, yeah?

There's something wrong with that.

Fashion is anti ass and hips. That's ridiculous as so many women have both. And we should be able to dress pretty too.
