Yes. For a word that gets thrown around so often, it's too rarely appropo.

So, I wanted to thank you for this post. I ended up making some icons from a couple of the pictures here, but I can't find anything else about her. Is she included in your dailies?

Your welcome. And ooh! Pretty icon.

Is she included in your dailies?

She has her own folder (http://thedailies.grimfandango.org/others/julie-nicols/) at the site.

She's so versatile. She looks like completely different people in several of the photos. (Though part of me wants to yell at the photographer of one of the photos. It feels like he's trying to emulate Man Ray in that photo, but instead it's... in between and messy. *Grouches* She did a marvelous job but the photographer *mutter mutter mutter*.)

She's so versatile.

As a model should be, right? And then she's beautiful on top of it. I love it when a model who photographs beautifully has a ton of different looks.

I don't follow what you mean by emulating Man Ray? Help me be a little less ignant, if it's not too much trouble?

Yes, she should be. Rarely do i see a model that distinctively beautiful and that versatile.

Man Ray is a photographer who is a Dadaist. He hung out with Marcel Duchamp (remember the guy who wrote R. Mutt on a urinal and submitted it to an unjuried art show in New York) and various others. He was also a Surrealist and then some other interesting things too. Lee Miller was his protege (actually, she showed up at his door and told him to take her as his apprentice, which he did) and together they created Solarization (or the Sabattier effect).

Lots of experimental work, nonetheless. I'm thinking of this photo in particular of the Marquise Casati: http://www.digitallydo.com/Proof/man_ray.jpg

I get what the photographer is doing - doing experimental work with multiple exposures, and most of the photographs really work. But that one photo is sharp and focused at the same time in this really uncomfortable way. It's almost like he's (she?) doing the Marquise Casati photograph without the multiple sets of eyes.

Then again, this is possibly me being persnickity.
