"When I started out, advertising photography was dominated (and still continues to grow in that direction) by a pseudo stylistic, over blown, artificial, embellished, colour splashed sensibility. A sense of naturalness about how we eat, drink, sleep, celebrate, f***, dream and live—was missing. So for me the niche was already there, I just had to ease in to it."

I had to literally shout my amen. So much (most) of fashion photography is just a bunch of shitty pictures (if not just boring) of nothing. It's like, the emperor has no clothes on. Why does nobody notice?!?!!!
Just to hear someone else, a great photographer of color too, say this makes me feel so validated. Gives me hope too, that maybe my art bone is not horribly beyond repair.
Thank you!

But yeah, his comments struck me as so ON regarding why I've been thinking, "Seen one fashion editorial, seen 'em all."
