You know...is it just me, or was the end of the 80's/start of the 90's also the death of people trying to turn idealism into reality?

I don't think it was. Something changed, something shifted, but I don't think it was idealism's death.

Yeah, something shifted all right. We were headed in the right direction for a while.

Now we're back to the old 'only one way' trope in just about every arena.
