Hiya!

Mira Nair's Kama Sutra Screencaps in zip files. Many of these are not safe for work. They're gorgeous though. Absolutely stunning (to me).

Some of the actors pictured are Indira Varma, Sarita Choudhury, and Naveen Andrews.

I don't know from where I got them. Probably livejournal -- it was so long ago. I dug them up because I couldn't find great pictures of either Choudhury or Varma.

That movie made me a fan of Mira Nair's work. Have you seen her take on Vanity Fair? It's one of the few Reese Witherspoon films (ok maybe the only film) I actually liked- and it all had to do with her use of color, and music and... and... everything!

I think I just geek'd all over your journal space. just a little :)

I'm a huge Nair fan. I've seen just about every movie she's ever made. Did you see the one starring Uma Thurman and Juliette Lewis? Hysterical Blindness? No color, no lushness, no richness, but devastating.

I adore Nair's work. And yes, I saw Vanity Fair. I wasn't going to miss her working with james Purefoy for anything.

She's very good. She should work more. But Hollywood is weird and she might be too dark for Bollywood.

Sometimes I wonder if it's not by choice that she doesn't work that often.

I think she's jolie-laide, myself.

...this movie! It's one of my top 5, easy. I can't convince any of my friends to watch it with me because they can't get past the title. See, now I'll have to go home and watch it tonight.

I was a little disappointed with Vanity Fair - I don't know why.

I'm going to make icons. (I wish I had Photoshop!!)

It's gorgeous looking. I could turn off the sound and merely watch it. I think, though, it looks like soft core porn and maybe that's why people don't want to watch it. The plot is thin. I'm in it for the cinematography, the clothing, the jewels...all of that.

I didn't like Vanity Fair too much but I loved it's look. I hated the dance routine though. And also, I didn't think the song Becky Sharpe sung, 'now sleeps the crimson petal'?, was appropriate.

I like my period pieces to be period-y. Please not to make too much of the modern in ways I can't ignore! But, it's hard to go wrong with James Purefoy, though.

Oh, I look forward to seeing your icons!
